Kenya Railways launches online website for making travel bookings

The website is an addition to the Short Message Service SMS based booking already in operation.

Kenya Railways has launched an online website where commuters can easily book their tickets in advance or check seats availability.

All one needs to do is log in on the Kenya Railways website and follow simple instructions on how to make a booking.

The website is an addition to the Short Message Service SMS based booking already in operation which Kenya Railways rolled out last year.

Commuters simply dial USSD code *639# to book a train ticket and make payments via MPESA.

Beginning 1 January 2018, Standard Gauge Railways also adjusted the advance ticket booking window from fourteen (14) days to thirty (30) days.

The launch of the online booking follows numerous complaints by commuters who shared their frustrations of what they go through just to make a booking, this gave rise to unscrupulous middle men who swindles 'poor and desperate' cummuters.
