Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will share his views on freedom of expression during a live speech on Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET.

Zuckerberg said the speech will focus on why it's important for people to have a voice and the biggest threats to freedom of speech on the internet and around the world.
Facebook and Zuckerberg have been criticized for allowing misinformation to be spread daily on Facebook, and the conversation has only intensified with the upcoming 2020 presidential election.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he will deliver a live speech at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 16 to address freedom of expression. Zuckerberg said it will be "the most comprehensive take" he's shared about his stance on freedom of speech and personal voice.

Zuckerberg said the speech will discuss the importance of providing individuals with a voice and how freedom of expression brings people together. He will also identify what he believes to be the major global threats to freedom of speech, and the challenges that come with mass online communication.

Zuckerberg said the address will collect what he's learned while focusing on freedom of speech as a global issue over the last few years.

Facebook has endured heavy criticism in recent years for allowing misinformation to be spread on the platform via both posts from average users and from paid advertisements, and the 2020 presidential election has brought even more scrutiny to the social media platform.
