Messaging app WhatsApp has unveiled its own set of emojis, after using the same design as iOS devices.
WhatsApp has created its own set of emojis—here's what they look like
Get ready for a whole new set of emojis from WhatsApp.
The new emojis are pretty much identical to those created by Apple with only a few differences giving away the update. For instance, the water pistol has turned orange, the ghost emoji no longer has lopsided eyes and the frying egg is now double-yolked.
Even then, Emojipedia, which first spotted the emojis, said there is a likeliness the design might change before public release.
"It's worth noting that this is only a beta, and these emojis might change before public release, or not even make a public release.”
It’s not clear what prompted the update but experts say it’s likely the app is following others including Facebook and Twitter in attempting to detach itself from relying on third-parties for emoji design.
Facebook Messenger, has received its own emoji changeover. The app, which previously had its own special emoji library, is now using the images created for the main Facebook app.
The new emoji design will start rolling out now in the beta version of the Android application, followed by other platforms.
