The concept of drone deliveries may not be new in the Amazon world since it has been dabbling in the field for a while now but it will be a first in Ghana if Tonaton.com‘s new plans materialize

As drones begin to play a bigger role in our personal and business lives, the drone delivery market is still in its formative stage.

According to Ghana's largest e-commerce platform Tonaton, it “ is working on plans to make delivery of packages by drones” a thing in Ghana.

The Managing Director of the platform, Zubair Riaz explains that, “Drone deliveries is one of the many ways we are trying to improve the user experience by not just cutting down the service cost but reducing the delivery times as well“.

The drone service, when launched, will reportedly be added to the current “” service by the largest e-commerce platform in Ghana.

Currently, regulations in Ghana surrounding the use of drones are quite hazy but there is a rule by the Ghana Civil and Aviation Association (GCAA) which asks that all drones be duly registered.

Even after registration, there is a long list of unapproved areas where drones cannot be flown in Ghana, with majority of those areas in the Greater Accra Region, where most of Tonaton.com sales occur.
