This is because Whatsapp is down and has been unavailable for hours now.
It is not only in Kenya though, Users from parts of Europe, USA and Asia are also experiencing delays in sending messages.
According to Nendo estimates, WhatsApp has 10 million users in Kenya.

Whatsapp has become an important channel for person-to-person communication and a driver of conversations on other social media platforms as content shared on WhatsApp usually finds its way on Twitter and Facebook.
