All churches and Mosques to remain closed – CS Kagwe

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has suspended all social gatherings including mosque, and funeral services in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus that has seen the number of cases rise to fifteen.

Mr Mutahi emphasized the need for the public to follow the directives the Government had put stating that it was critical to follow the measures to contain further spread.

Having noted the non-compliance of individuals may they be in religious organizations, may they be in other social gatherings, the NERC has directed the suspension of all church mosque, funeral and other social gatherings and funerals are restricted to immediate family members only,” said the CS.

He expressed his disgust with Kenyans who did not heed the measures revealing that even though they were inconvenient, they were meant to Kenyans safe.

"What is the point of continuing with these institutions as if nothing is happening and cut your gathering post corona virus by half? What i the logic? What is it that i don't understand when we tell Kenyans that this is not a joke. So in the coming week you will be observing the enforcement measures that the Government will have to take to make sure that what we are saying is correct" added the CS.

The health CS maintained that people should stay at home, banning even gathering in the streets.

He stated that that weddings, events and all other type of social gathering would resume when Corona pandemic was over.
