President Uhuru Kenyatta's team has made the first step in removing...
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has now filed a petition with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), challenging the eligibility of Justice Maraga to serve as a judge in the apex court.
Wambugu, who is now one of Jubilee’s vocal leaders, stated that his petition was based on concrete evidence on the irregular and illegal conduct of the Chief Justice over the period he has headed the judiciary.
The Nyeri Town MP has listed a number of allegations including accusing Maraga of illegally influencing the decision of the Supreme Court judges to nullify President Kenyatta's election.
Wambugu claims that one of the judges in the apex court, Mohammed Ibrahim, was forced off the bench by Maraga.
He further alleges that the Chief Justice played a critical plan in overturning the will of the people, including through a Court of Appeal decision to reduce the powers of the IEBC Chairman.
