President Uhuru Kenyatta has spoken for the first time since the attack on the Dusit business complex.

Speaking at State House Nairobi, the Head of State confirmed that a terror attack had happened and commended the security teams and first responders for helping evacuate civilians who were at Dusit complex.

Message of hope

"We are grieving as a country this morning and my heart and that of every Kenyan goes out to the innocent men and women violated by senseless violence," the Commander in Chief stated.

"Kenya will remain strong in fighting terror. All person involved in latest terror act will be brought to book," President Kenyatta added.

Going after everyone involved

The Head of State assured the nation that every person involved in the planning, funding and execution of the heinous attack will be sought and brought to book.

Additionally, he stated that Kenya was on high alert and we shall remain so adding that all Kenyans and our foreign visitors were safe in the country.

Over 700 civilians were evacuated from the scene of the attack, the President noted.

"All attackers at Nairobi hotel complex have been killed and hostage crisis is over," President Kenyatta said.

The President also commended Kenyans on social media platforms for standing in solidarity with the survivors and encouraging the security forces on the ground.

"I take note of Kenyans who took to social media to spread hope and criticize false information. You have shown the world bravery, patriotism and love," the CIC stated.
