The outspoken ODM lawmaker divulged that she had to briefly fall out with her husband Mr Wanga owing to their varied political affiliations during the search for the ODM gubernatorial candidate in Homa Bay County for August 8 polls.
“We have to admit that the gubernatorial race in this county polarized many families, including mine,” Homa Bay Women representative Gladys Wanga said as quoted by .
Apparently, the couple was forced to sit opposite each other in a tense contest in which Gladys was a staunch supporter of the County Governor Cyprian Awiti, whom the party had fronted, while Mr Wanga, the husband, opted to throw his weight behind Mr Awiti’s key rival, Mr Oyugi Magwanga, a former Kasipul MP.

“But we have got a solution and everything is now smooth in my family,” the legislator added.
In the edgy nomination whirlwind in Homa Bay Mr Magwanga, a darling to Mr Wanga, came second after Awiti in the race that attracted four candidates.
During campaigns, Gladys was one of the top strategists who propelled Awiti’s campaigns, a totally different script for her husband, who pursued the Independent channel, after his candidate was floored in the nominations. Mr Magwaga opted to take on Mr Awiti as an independent candidate with a team of campaigners led by Mr Wanga.
Back at home Rangwe Constituency, their bedrock, both had to mop up support for their preferred candidates.
