Meru gubernatorial candidate quits after Uhuru’s announcement

The gubernatorial candidate stepped down only 4 days to the elections.

Kinoti on Thursday stepped down in favour of Jubilee Party Candidate and Senator Kiraitu Muriungi with the general elections only four days away.

President Kenyatta had offered Kinoti who is also the Buuri MP, a state job if he stepped down for Muriungi.

Kinoti had earlier declared he will vie for the Meru gubernatorial seat as an Independent.

Kinoti's stepping down has now turned the contest into a two-horse race between Muriungi and the incumbent Peter Munya.
