According to Karua, Waiguru has reportedly been telling residents that the Head of State had endorsed her for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat.
However, Speaking in Kirinyaga during a political meeting, Karua stated that the President had not endorsed Waiguru nor any other candidate in the Governor’s race.
"There is a candidate who is going around the region telling residents that she is the president's preferred candidate. The President has not endorsed anyone for the gubernatorial seat and she must be ignored," Ms Karua said.

Karua, who has teamed up with Central MP Gachoki Gitari, promised to weed out corruption in Kirinyaga if elected during the August Election.
Gitari, who had accompanied the former Gichugu MP, termed her an honest leader who would steer development in the region.
Meanwhile, Karua had announced that she would support the President’s re-election but field candidates for all other seats.
The former devolution CS beat incumbent Joseph Ndathi in the Jubilee nominations who has now opted to run as an independent.
