Heated debate in Parliament over Diamond Platnumz [Video]

A Boy From Tandale making major moves

In a special seating, Members of parliament took their time to discuss Diamond’s achievement in the Music industry stating that he  is a self-made star who has struggled to take Tanzanian music to the world.

During the discussion, legislators pointed fingers at the Music Regulatory Board (BASATA) who banned two of Diamond’s songs from being played on TV stations.

One MP affirmed that such bodies are doing nothing to help stars like Diamond reach great heights, but they are at easy to ban their songs.

The Mps added that if it was in their jurisdiction, they could have created a Diamond statue, to honor his global achievements.

“Nataka nimpongeze Diamond popote kule alipo. Ingekuwa amri yangu tungechonga  sanamu ya diamond tuiweke mjini, maana ametutangaza mbali. Serekaili hatuwasaidie wasanni ila sisi ni wakwanza kuwatapeli. Ametanga nchi yetu mbali, tungewawekea mfuno mzuri hatungekuwa na matatizo haya. Kama serekali hatuwazaidie wasanii wetu, akina BASATA, wanatapeli tu wasanii wetu” said One MP.

This comes days after BASATA released a statement, announcing that they have banned two of Diamond’s songs.

But talking to Diamond during his Album launch, the Wasafi CEO disclosed that he his yet to receive official communication from BASATA that his songs had been banned. He also promised to have a seat down with the Minister in-charge of the Music industry so that they can share ideas.
