Kenyan singer and self-declared President of Single Mothers Akothee and Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan have opened up on the struggles they go through on a day to day basis, as single moms.
Akothee, Zari Hassan open up on struggles of being single mothers
This was after Akothee asked South Africa based Zari to come to Kenya for Christmas, but she couldn’t because her older sons already have their own plans for December.
Akothee noted that she cannot travel to South Africa for Christmas as well because her daughters also have plans of their own and they wouldn’t want to be with her.
“Our children are our strengths, children are the only unshared, or (uninheritable) wealth, no one will ever inherit your children or fight for them , like they would fight for your wealth/ success or attention, I asked @zarithebosslady to come for Christmas holiday, her answer ( the little ones have no problem, but the grown up boys have their own schedule, so I cant promise until they accept to come too, but I guess not and I want to be with all my children at Christmas, I am their father and their mother, equally, I would like to visit south Africa with all my children at Christmas, the small ones have no issues ,apart from Oyoo who wants to come to kenya just for one day, @rue.baby has her own calender forget her following me , @veshashaillan , its high season for her business @akotheesafaris so she said she won't leave the office @fancy_makadia is cloding school only for a week, she doesn’t see herself in Kenya this words are not light as you may think. Single mothers have a backbone made of steal and a heart of Gold. I can’t put on Zarinas shoes at least I have papa Oyoo to hold some horns for me to work and travel the world, I celebrate my woman today @zarithebosslady MONDAY CRUSH WOMAN. YOU GIVE ME ENERGY SWEETIE,” read part of the singer’s long post.
Zari Hassan on her part said that it keeps on getting tough as their kids grow older and start giving excuses not to go where their parents want them to.
She reiterated that they all face the same struggles as single mothers but they have managed to do it well.
“It surely becomes tough as kids get older, as you plan the holidays they have their own destinations in mind. Christmas holidays are meant to be spent together as family but the minute I come up with plans all the boys are like nah, that place is boring maybe we do Paris, am like no that’s too cold. Dubai? No we've already been. How about we go to Uganda, nah our grandma and dad are not there only bad me memories but you have lots of cousins, no they are babies not really our age. Yesu, where should we go and that's just the holidays not the day today living. Yes it's tough, but we have been built to do it and we are doing it great. I will celebrate you my sister because there isn’t much difference. As single mothers the struggles are the same. We appreciate all women doing it on their own even if we have our 'personal persons' helping on the side. Thanks you love, it means a lot,” said Zari.
