Ex Nation FM presenter justifies earning 90M from NYS loot

Angela Angwenyi was among other people who were named as beneficiaries of the lost millions from National Youth Service (NYS) kitty.

The Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) has been grilling individuals who were implicated in the loot of Kes 971 million from NYS

The former Nation FM presenter yesterday November 23 appeared before PAC to shed light on the contract she was awarded by the Ministry of Devolution for a one year publicity campaign.

PAC committee members put Ms Angwenyi to task to explain why she deserved the Kes 90 million that her company, Out of the Box Solutions, was paid for the publicity campaign.

Apparently Out of the Box Solutions was given a Kes 302 million contract but had only been paid 90 million before the whistle was blown on the NYS loot.

MPs questioned the deliverables by Angwenyi’s company saying that they hadn’t seen the said adverts yet she had received million of shillings as payment for her publicity campaign.

She however justified the payment saying that her company had executed 11 radio commercials, ran adverts on Citizen TV, prepared promotional caps, T-shirts, bags, billboards and fliers and revamped the AGPO website.

Political analyst, Mutahi Ngunyi, will be the next person who will appear before Parliamentary Accounts Committee. The findings of PAC will be tabled in parliament before any action is taken in regards to the NYS scandal.
