On August 3, 2018, Betty Kyallo bid a tearful goodbye to her audience of 4-years on KTN’s ‘Friday Briefing’.

“The future be so bright. Tonight, I say goodbye. It has been an amazing 8 years at KTN, tonight I say goodbye with so much gratitude and love to you. See you on #FridayBriefing @KTNNews” shared Kyallo on her Instagram page.

A few months later she made her debut at K24, a move which some people felt was not the best as the Media Max-owned station was not as big as KTN.

The mum of one has now explained why she left KTN for K24.

“I felt that I had accomplished what I was meant to at KTN. I had built a career and a name for myself. I had started a show format that was new in the Kenyan media scene when I ventured into the world of interactive news but after four-and-a-half years of Friday Briefing, I needed something different and more challenging,” she told Parents Magazine.

Tough Transition

When the time came for her to fly out of the KTN nest, Betty admitted that she was anxious about joining a new team.

“It was a tough transition because I had not known any home apart from KTN, having grown from an intern to running my own show, but I also, but I also felt that I had been doing the same for so long,” she told the Magazine.
