Soki is the first female signee to the EMB label as Bahati has a passion for supporting women in a male-dominated industry.

“The Gospel industry is male-dominated and so I did some research to get a female signee and during my research, I came across one lady named Rebecca Soki. But I couldn’t reach her because this particular artiste was living in Kenya as a refugee and when you are a woman in a foreign country. it’s hard. She went through a few challenges here including getting poisoned and couldn’t sing for a year.

When I finally found her I learnt that she is in Congo, Goma and when I tried reaching her she told me she was in a war zone. We could talk one time and the next time she is mteja and she would say that the phone booster was bombed. I didn’t give up, I was passionate because this girl is a great singer." Bahati said.

However, getting Rebecca to come to Kenya after the poisoning incident was another matter altogether. “For the first time, I begged someone to come to Kenya. I’ve been working on getting Rebecca for the last 6 months, I brought her to Kenya from Congo in January. Since she had been through so much in Kenya I told her not to sing for the months she was here and we catered for everything. God gave me the grace and so we found Rebecca a house. Now she is back in the ministry, she is one of our sisters. He added.
