Rapper Professor Jay loses Parliamentary Seat

Renowned Tanzanian rapper turned politician Joseph Haule alias Professor Jay has failed to reclaim his Mikumi parliamentary seat.

Professor Jay who was defending the Mikumi Constituency seat on a Chadema ticket was defeated by Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) candidate Dennis Lazaro, who garnered 31,411 (62.7%) while Jay had 17,375 votes.

“Msimamizi wa Uchaguzi Jimbo la Mikumi, amemtangaza Dennis Lazaro wa CCM kushinda kiti cha ubunge akipata kura 31,411 (62.7%) dhidi ya Joseph Haule wa CHADEMA. Pia kwa mujibu wa msimamizi wa uchaguzi katika jimbo hilo, CCM imeshinda udiwani katika kata zote 40,” reads an update on Mikumi’s Parliamentary Election.

Mwana FA Elected

On the other, Rapper Hamis Mwijuma aka Mwana FA has been declared the winner in Muhenza Constituency on a CCM ticket. Mwana FA got 47, 578 votes against Chadema’s Yosepher Komba who had 12, 038 votes, ACT Wazalendo’s candidate Jamila Ali came in third with 1, 223.

Other famous personalities who have been elected in the just concluded Tanzania General Election Include; Diamond Platnumz Managers Babu Tale (Morogoro Vijijini) and Mkubwa Fella who was elected for the second term as the councilor for Kilungule.

Kilwa South MP Suleiman Bungala aka Bwege of the famous Slogan “We Oliskia Wapi” also lost his seat to CCM candidate Ally Kasinge who had 22, 521 votes against Bwege’s 10, 096 votes.

“Msimamizi wa Uchaguzi Jimbo la Kilwa Kaskazini na Kilwa Kusini amemtangaza Ally Kasinge wa CCM kuwa mshindi wa Ubunge katika Jimbo la Kilwa Kusini baada ya kupata kura 22,521 huku aliyekuwa Mbunge wa Jimbo hilo Seleman Bungala (Bwege) ACT akipata kura 10,096,” reads an update.

The Tanzania General Election have been rocked with controversy with the main opposition leader Tundu Lissu, announcing that he will not conceded defeat for such a shambolic election.

So Far, the ruling Party CCM has won over 90 per cent of all the parliamentary seats. President John Pombe Magufuli is also leading in the presidential race, with CCM’s Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi already declared President elect for Zanzibar. Mwinyi is the son of former Tanzanian President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.

"Thank you all people of Zanzibar for choosing CCM and for electing brother Hussein Mwinyi as the President-elect of the revolutionary government of Zanzibar," reads a tweet form CCM Party.
