Top CEO’s join Kenyans in wishing Bob Collymore a swift recovery

The CEO’s unexplained ailment has left many worried over his return

The announcement caught many by surprise as the renowned CEO is popular for his vivacious and young-at-heart personality. It has made him a household name for many a Kenyans.

Though the cause of ailing remains a mystery to the public, many came out to wish him a quick recovery.

In his list of well-wishers were top CEOs and other media personalities such as Caroline Mutoko, Jeff Koinange and Maina Kageni.

Barclays CEO Jeremy Awori tweeted, “We wish Bob Collymore a speedy recovery! And look forward to seeing you back at the helm of Safaricom fit and well.”

One David Kimani said, “May every moment bring Bob Collymore closer to us again and closer to recovery."

In the meantime, Sateesh Kamath who is the current Chief Financial Officer will take up Collymore’s duties. In support the current Director of Strategy and Innovation, Joseph Ogutu will assist Sateesh in administering the day-to-day operations of the multibillion organization.

Mr Kamath boasts over 20 years-experience in both mature and emerging markets. His background in strategic performance management and building robust operations across the telecoms, FMCG and manufacturing sectors makes him an excellent replacement for the popular CEO.

Mr Ogutu who is the longest serving member of Safaricom’s Executive Committee has a long and illustrious career in the telecommunications. With over 30 years of experience in corporate affairs and Human Resource functions, he also serves as the chairman of the Safaricom Foundation.
