Victoria Kimani recently opened up about her life in the music scene and it hasnt exactly been as rosy and as glamorous as it seems on Instagram.

She revealed there are some difficulties she has encountered while trying to remain true to herself and why her Safari album means so much to her and her fans.

“I made my album for people who need to be uplifted, people who need to be inspired. To be honest, when I put out my album, to be honest, I felt like it wasn’t necessarily what Africa is doing right now, that’s not why I did it, I did it for the music. I cannot wait to be in a space with creative freedom with art lovers, musical connoisseurs.” She said.

Before revealing that African music is getting a bit annoying “People are repeating the same songs over and over again, they are borrowing lyrics from not-even-that-old songs and it’s just kind of annoying. It is starting to feel very weird because I have actually tested it and have given you real music and I have given you the bullshit pop music.”

She then went on to disclose that sometimes she feels like she has to dumb herself down to fit in and for people to love her music. “So I’m not gonna take up your whole time, I am not going to talk about this all day long but I feel like I have to dumb myself down as an artiste to relate to a lot of people.

“Ijust don’t think people want to, they just don’t want originality anymore, they just want the same old music. We have to take the time to appreciate real art when it comes out, don’t  only appreciate what is popular." She concluded.
