I was famous but broke - Eric Omondi speaks of his financial troubles while at Churchill

All that glitters is not gold.

This is because people often expect you to behave a certain way or be generous with your money since they assume that you are rich. People also expect you to enjoy a lavish life, but unfortunately, that is not always the case as some celebrities suffer from financial difficulties even when their career has peaked.

And that is what Eric Omondi went through in September 2010. He was riding high on his fame at Churchill Show but he was broke and had a 5-month rent arrear that saw him kicked to the streets and his property auctioned.

“Sometime in September of 2010 while living in Nairobi West my house was locked and all my stuff auctioned... I had a 5-month rent arrear... This was during the break between season one of Churchill Live and Season two... I was as famous as I was broke... On that fateful day, my neighbours watched in awe as two pick-ups carried away my things and as the Caretaker "politely" asked me to step out of the house so he could lock the door... All this happened at midday.” Eric confessed.

“As I walked out of the compound totally dejected...I remember saying to God "You are my LORD make me Landlord one day" Here we are today. Whatever you are going through today do not be dismayed... It could be God setting you up for your greatest moment.” Eric added as he displayed a new house he was building.
