Carole Odero responds after Kenyans bashed her on Meghan Markel's makeup comment [EXCLUSIVE]

I stick by my comments

Odero was on the panel hosted by Citizen TV's Lillian Muli after the Royal Wedding which took place on Saturday.

During the show, Odero expressed her disappointment in Meghan’s choice of dress stating that she expected it to have a more princessy feeling.

She also noted that Meghan's decision to only use minimal makeup on her big day was a great let down for everyone who was anticipating the Royal Wedding.

Her comments were captured in a tweet by Citizen TV drawing numerous abusive comments which Pulselive.co.ke cannot republish.

In a candid phone interview with Pulselive.co.ke, Ms. Odero said she still stands by her comments even after the social media attack.

“I cannot take back any of my comments concerning Meghan’s wedding gown and makeup. As a journalist cum fashion police I am expected to have an opinion. And I gave it,"  she said.

She divulged that those attacking her had taken her comments posted on the tweet out of context adding that anyone who watched the whole interview would understand where she was coming from.

Having been an avid reader of Meghan's Lifestyle blog - The Tig - the Editor in chief at Couture Africa magazine, disclosed that her expectations were definitely over the rooftop, when it came to Meghan's fashion during the Royal Wedding.

"I used to read The Tig before her prince arrived...so definitely my expectations may have been too high.

"But let's remember Meghan herself once said 'For work, I get so dolled up that it's nice to wear boyfriend jeans and a sweater'" she said.

The award-winning fashion journalist avoided any more questions on the matter hinting that she does not want to give the story life.

She went ahead to wish Meghan and Prince Harry love and laughter in their marriage

During the fashion watch show aired on Citizen TV, Ms. Odero was on the panel with stylist Annabel Onyango, former Tusker Project fame judge Ian Mbugua and pastor Robert Burale.

Annabell and Ian also said that they did not like Meghan dress. Ian found it a tad bigger while Annabell expected more details on it.

Only Burale opined that the dress was okay for the Royal Wedding.
