Daniel passed away at the age of 73 from a heart attack at 11pm on Wednesday night as he was undergoing his dialysis treatment .
“Our beloved father sadly left us last night. He had recovered and was on his way to fine health having been taken off the Intensive Care Unit. He was talking well and joking as usual while undergoing his dialysis treatment but at around 11pm, he suffered a sudden heart attack and efforts to resuscitate him did not bear any fruit,” Rudisha told Sport Pesa News.

Rudisha had earlier shared a collage of him and his ailing father asking fans to wish him a quick recovery. “Me and my ailing father, wish him a quick recovery. Long live my dad.”
Rudisha later shared a photo of the late Daniel Matasi Rudisha at the ICU and captioned it “God is Faithful.”
Royal Media Radio host Teddy Eugene was among the first people to condole with Rudisha and tweeted “My heartfelt condolences to the family of Olympic 800 meters champion David Rudisha on the loss of their father-1968 Olympics silver medalist Daniel Matasi Rudisha.”
