A few years ago, Diamond and Akothee released ‘Sweet Love’, a song that told the world that Akothee is one to watch out for.

It was rumoured that Akothee coughed up some serious mullah for the hit song since at that time Diamond was a huge artiste and Akothee was an upcoming one.

However, Diamond denied these rumours by saying that he didn’t charge the singer a dime.

Though he said that he didn’t charge a dime for the collabo, Diamond pumped a lot of money into some of his biggest collabos, ‘Waka Waka’ with Rick Ross and ‘Marry You’ with Ne-Yo.

Speaking during a forum by The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Diamond said “Siku za zamani ungeshoot video na shillingi millioni moja, lakini siku hizi gharama zimeongezeka na zimebadilika.Kwa mfano mimi nimefanya collabo na Ne-Yo kwa sababu muziki wetu saa hii umekua . Na unapokuwa mkubwa lazima ufanye investment. Siku hizi ndio watu wa nyumbani wakukubali lazima ufanye vitu vikubwa. Project yangu na Ne-Yo imenicost dollar laki moja na elfu nne. (Upwards of 10 Million Kshs). Yani 100% ukweli mtupu. Hakuna uwongo wowote. Video niliyofanya na Rick Ross nimemlipa director dollar elfu hamsini na sita (about 5.6 Million Kenyan Shillings).”
