4 Kenyan Gospel artistes who frequent nightclubs (Photos)

Go out into the world and preach the word.

Some of the most popular bangers are ‘Uninyunyuzie Maji’, ‘Adonai’ by Sarkodie, ‘Mwema’ by Mercy Masika, ‘Bazokizo’ and ‘Kuna Dawa’  by Esther Wahome.

But as much as much as Gospel songs are popular in the club, gospel artistes hitting the club to preach the gospel or launch their songs still remains a controversial topic. As evidenced by the outrage Bahati’s presence at a local club caused. But despite the possibility of backlash, some Gospel artistes throw caution to the wind and frequent the club scene.

Just check them out below:

1. Willy Paul

Gospel Bad boy Willy Paul has no qualms about performing at secular events and even hits the clubs to perform from time to time. He performed ‘Tam Tam’ with Size 8 at a Wakilisha East Africa event held at Club Tribeka.

He was back at the club to perform  ‘Fanya’ and even posted a video of himself at the club captioning it “FANYA is fire see for Urself mpaka Tribeka.’’

2. DJ Mo

Baba Wambo is a firm believer that a Gospel artiste should ‘Go out into the world and preach the word’ so he sees no problem with a Gospel artiste or DJ performing in a club.

“I don’t know how people will take it, but watu hunipenda because I am always real. Me naeza spin hata kwa club, the only difference between me and the secular DJ is the content. The Bible says ‘Go out into the world and preach the word’ so sioni ubaya ya mimi kuenda hapo Tribeka nichape set ya Gospel. It’s only that it is not our main thing given the things that happen in a club.” He told Pulse Live before adding“I’ve deejayed in so many clubs, nimeitwa Nyeri mpaka Kisumu, yaani mi huenda for 30 minutes just to do a Gospel set and go home.”

3. Bahati

Aside from Gospel concerts, the young musician also gets his coins from clubs. “I only go to clubs when I’m performing. When I’m called to perform. Not to chill, performance.” He said on the Trend.

Just like DJ Mo, Bahati also believes in ‘Going out into the world and preaching the word’.

“I’m growing in a generation that I have to go to the people and give them the gospel. Huyo ni mtu pengine Sunday haendangi church. I know I’ll reach them anywhere I’m called to perform.” He divulged.

4. Betty Bayo

Fans were beside themselves with anger after the ‘Jemedari’ singer hit the club to launch a song. Since she was spotted with Fundi Frank and G-Kon at Club Tribeka, many assumed that she hit the club for night out. But that was far from the truth as she was there to launch a new song.
