President John Pombe Magufuli led Tanzanians in mourning the sudden demise of five journalists attached to Azam TV.

Azam Media Limited (Azam TV), which operates under the Bakhresa Group of Companies, lost five of its employees in a grisly road accident that happened Monday.

The five are among seven people who perished in the accident, with two more journalists admitted in hospital with serious injuries.

The group was travelling to Chato for an event set to be officiated by President John Pombe Magufuli.

Said Salim Bakhresa

Azam TV is owned by Tanzanian billionaire and industrialist Said Salim Bakhresa. His net worth is estimated to be over $10.2 Billion.

“Nimeshtushwa sana na vifo hivi, nampa pole Mwenyekiti Said Salim Bakhresa, ndugu wa marehemu wote, Mtendaji Mkuu, Tido Mhando na wafanyakazi wote wa Azam Media Ltd, waandishi wa habari wote na watu wote walioguswa na vifo hivi,” #RIPNduguZetu President Magufuli’s message.

Stakeholders in the entertainment sector and politicians took to social media to sent in their condolences messages.
