Former Business Daily Managing Editor Ochieng Rapuro has been appointed the Standard Group’s Editor-in-Chief.
His appointment is effective July 1st

He will take over from Joseph Odindo who was the Group Editorial Director until his retirement, a few months ago.
Rapuro’s appointment was announced on Friday by Standard Group CEO Orlando Lyomu in a memo sent to all staff. He will be in charge of editorial operations across all platforms for the Standard Group.
Prior to his appointment, he served as the Managing Editor for NMG’s regional newspaper, The East African. Rapuro also worked as Managing editor for Nation’s Business publication, Business Daily.

Ochieng Rapuro’s appointment comes a few days after NMG announced his departure from the media house.
In a note to Nation Media editors, NMG Editorial Director Mutuma Mathiu confirmed that Rapuro had asked to leave the twin towers for a senior position at the Standard Group, five months after he was re-assigned to head The East African.
“Though we are sad to lose such a strong editor, we are at the same time happy for him because this move represents career growth and new challenges,” read part Mathiu’s note
