Sauti Sol is fresh from winning 2016 MTV Africa Music Award for Best Group, they now have their eyes fixed on yet another international award.
Sauti Sol does something astounding in the US that could win them Grammy Award
The all boys band have kick started their 2016 tour of US on a high note with a move that could earn then the most coveted award a musician can bag in their lifetime.
Grammy Award and BET award are the only major awards missing on Sauti Sol’s CV, they won MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2014.
The group has now sought the services of international producer to give a new twist to their music; the same producer who produced Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’ album.
The quartet recorded their new song with the very microphone that Amy Winehouse used to record her ‘Rehab’ album, and in the same studio.
“Amy Winehouse used this microphone to record her #Rehab album. Last night we recorded on this very microphone in the very same studio with the very same producer!” Sauti Sol broke the good news as they showed off Amy’s microphone.
For starters, Amy Winehouse is a British singer who boasts of winning a record 6 Grammy awards plus a number of other international awards before she died in July 2011. (She won her 7 Grammy award this year, Best Music Film, even though she had long passed on.)
Mark you she won 5 Grammy Awards in 2008 alone for her ‘Rehab’ album; Song of the Year ‘Rehab’, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
Now that Sauti Sol are using the same microphone Amy used to record ‘Rehab’, same studio and same producer, do you think they will replicate Amy Winehouse’ssuccess story in 2008 Grammy awards?
