This year’s most trending searches reveal that Kenyans turned to Google to search more about celebrity personalities, movies and telenovelas.

In the celebrity scene, Tanzania’s musician and songwriter Rayvanny was the most searched artist by Kenyans. Winner of the Viewer’s choice award in the 2017 BET Awards, Rayvanny hit the headlines for allegedly being unfaithful to his pregnant girlfriend- Fahyma whom he is recently reported to have dumped.

Former Yamoto band member Aslay became the second most searched artiste of the year following his decision to split from the band.

Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington, who died from suicide, and Churchill Show’s former comedian Emmanuel Makori alias Ayeiya Poa Poa, were amongst the trending artistes of the year.

Ayeiya passed on this year following a fatal road accident. Other highly sought after artistes on the Internet included Willy Paul, who released a wedding song – “I Do” with Jamaican songstress Alaine.

Zari’s ex-husband – a popular businessman and socialite also generated huge interest among Kenyans following his demise this year. American comedian Charlie Murphy and Play Boy founder – Hugh Hefner also topped Google searches following their deaths within the year.

MCA Tricky – a former street boy, now comedian at the Churchill Show and popular Kikuyu comedian Kianangi who was found dead after going missing for a week are among the other artistes who defined searches in 2017.
