In April 2019, Akothee left fans stunned after she stepped out looking like a million bucks during her birthday celebrations. And she knew she looked damn good so she jokingly posted “For those who ever commented that I am ugly, repent now before I take your man home.”

Since her birthday, Akothee has maintained the face beat and her silky weaves but she admits that looking like that is not cheap as in a day she spends 124,000 Kenya shillings to look good.

During media tours, Akothee revealed that she spends Sh50,000 on makeup which is broken into 3 parts, the Sh20,000 she uses for the initial face beat, Sh10,000 for the touch-up and Sh20,000 for the evening when she washes it all off to put in on again.

“I am still the same person. I have just enhanced my look niwashtue kidogo! Wamekuwa wakinisumbua ati ooh huna class, oooh uko na pesa na unasonga lines…Hii weave niko nayo saa hii ni kama Sh70, 000. Leo pekee yake I have spent about 74,000 na 50,000 so in a day itakuwa Sh124, 000. Huu mwonekano unakuja na gharama,” she said on Mambo Mseto.

Akothee said that she can afford to buy expensive hair and wear costly makeup as she does not have any major responsibilities as her children are well taken care of. She asked ladies not to look down on themselves when they are styling their hair in cornrows as at some point they will be able to afford expensive looks.

“Kama uko katika hali ya kusonga laini usijidharau na usijichukie , ukishatengeneza pesa siku moja na ushalipa school fees ya watoto na huna rent (you can treat yourself). Kama mimi hakuna mtu ananidai rent so naeza weka nyewele ya 74,000 na kama ningekuwa nalipa rent ndugu yangu hapo hunipati,” Akothee said.
