Machachari’s Almasi triggers strong reactions after wearing a ‘skirt’ (Photos)

Some people accused him of being mentally ill .

Some of the users who commented accused him of being mentally ill due to his gender-fluid fashion.

But what many don’t know is that his way of dressing is a way of expressing his religious beliefs.

The former actor had disclosed earlier on a Snapchat video that he practises Vaishnavism which is one of the major traditions within Hinduism along with Shaivism, Shaktism, and Smartism. Vaishnavas are devotees of Vishnu who is one of the principal deities of Hinduism and the ‘preserver and protector of the universe.’

The piece of cloth that people thought was a skirt is a Vaishnava dhoti and the actor also had a mark (Urdhva Pundra) on his forehead which is worn by followers of the Hindu branch of Vaishnavism.

In a past video, the University of Kent student also addressed his gender-fluid fashion. “I don’t conform to rules, I wear what I like, I’ll do what I like and nobody is gonna tell me anything. People will talk badly but at the end of the say I’m going to live my life.”
