Janet Kanini’s last words that keep her husband going

Very touching.

There was not a dry eye in sight as widowers Dan Sonko, George Ikua, David Kariuki and 3 other widowers opened up about losing their wives.

They opened up about the day they lost their loved ones and the special things they remember about them and how they cope now that they are gone.

The widowers also talked about some of their last conversations with their wives with George Ikua opening up about one of the last unforgettable things Janet Kanini told him during her last days. Words that have kept him going through the grief.

“I always remember one of the things that brought me peace was in her last days, stubborn as ever she turned around and said to me ‘I made the right choice.’ and for me, that is what I live with.” He said.

He also fondly remembered one of the best qualities about Janet, her simplicity in a complicated world.

“What we had with Janet was 14 years, 6 dating, 8 married. We had this explosive relationship for lack of a better word, two very strong, vicious, outgoing people, highly-opinionated, pushing against each other and fighting each other and fighting the world for each other.” He said describing details we didn’t know about his relationship.

George went on to reveal that despite her superstar status Janet was very simple at heart.

“The things that made her happy were the simplest, which used to amaze me. For somebody who had a larger-than-life character out there, she was excited by nyama choma, beans, leftovers, going out to cheap hotels, the really simple things. Extremely simple things.” He said.

At first, he found it difficult to keep up with Janet’s simple lifestyle because he wanted to impress her as a young man in Nairobi. But he later learnt that Janet was very simple and for her, a little extra thought like having someone wash her car versus exotic trips abroad was what made Janet feel special.
