I got depressed after finding out the love of my life was married – Joey Muthengi opens up

Former Citizen TV presenter Joey Muthengi has disclosed that she got depressed, when she found out that the man she was in love with had gotten married.

Joey said she got depressed for a longtime and not even her family understood what her problem was.

Speaking to The Unwritten’s Yvonne Aoll, the former TV queen narrated how she fell in love with a Mzungu while in high school, and everything was fine until their lives got busy and they did not have time for one another.

According to Joey, they were always in different parts of the world because she was so focused on making it.

The love of my life, was a white man. I knew him since high school. We were perfect, but the logistics around our lives just weren’t matching. We were always travelling, on different time-zones, different locations, and I was so keen on climbing the career ladder,” she said Joey.

Joey Muthengi went on to say that when she got a job at Citizen TV, she thought she was now ready to settle down and started looking for the love of her life.

She later on found out through Facebook that the man she hoped to spend the rest of her life with had moved on and was married to a different woman.

And when I finally got to Citizen TV, when I was finally feeling like I’ve sort of, “Made it,” I started looking for him again. And then I find out he got married. And it had me depressed. I was quite depressed for a long time actually. Even my family couldn’t understand, they kept asking, “What is it about this guy?” she added.

This is the first time the former 10 over 10 host has opened up extensively about details of her love life.

In the interview, Joey Muthengi who during her time at Citizen TV made people believe that she had a thing for older men said she preferred someone who understood her and age was not a factor.

I’d prefer someone who gets me and I don’t think that’s dependent on age,” she said in the interview with Yvonne Aoll, adding that maturity from a man and a great sense of humor are the little things that get her attached to someone.
