Johnnie Walker unveils another Formula 1 competition

Get rewarded for being a loyal Whisky consumer

You probably have heard that Whiskey drinkers like to talk about drinking whiskey all the time. Now, imagine getting rewarded for simply enjoying your favorite brand of Whisky while on a night out with your squad.

On that note, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) under its Johnnie Walker brand has rolled out a competition that will see loyal whisky consumers rewarded with an all-expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2019.

This trip will be made possible through their competition dubbed Kenya Racing Festival. The Festival will combine both Go-Kart racing and F1 Virtual Reality Simulation – an F1 simulator takes you through a virtual journey of full F1 experience. 

The fastest team both on Go-Kart and F1 Driver Simulator, will get an opportunity to witness the world finest F1 drivers proving their mettle on the challenging Yas Marina Circuit, courtesy of Johnnie Walker.

According to Diageo Head of Spirits, Grace Nshemeire-Gwaku, the Kenya Racing Festival aims at bringing together both F1 enthusiasts and Johnnie Walker consumers.

“This a chance for Kenyans to experience a world class sport brought to you by a world class scotch whisky,” said Mrs Nshemeire-Gwaku.

Kenya Racing Festival succeeds Experience Formula 1 with Johnnie Walker promotion that was unveiled in 2018, taking at least 20 consumers to six Grand Prix in different continents.

To participate in Kenya Racing Festival, the consumers need to register online (www.whistlingmoran.co.ke ) as a team of four before 30th August 2019.

Participants have to be above the age of 25 years and residents of Kenya. A one-day qualifiers will be held at Whistling Moran in Athi River, in order to select a team of 20 that will participate in a month-long competition to determine the winner. Registered participants to clock the fastest lap and fastest simulator driver will earn a slot in only 20 spots available.

The selected 20 teams will compete for a month to earn points in the three qualifiers that will be held at Whistling Moran in Athi River and they will accumulate points based on fastest lap timings. The Finals will take place in the month of October 2019, where the top-20 will compete for the top-3 position.

KBL Marketing Director Graham Villiers-Tuthill said, “The competition doesn’t discriminate. It allows amateur kart racers in Kenya to display their racing skills on the track and lets leisure karters experience professional karting while nurturing their talent and having fun at the same time.”

Formula 1 attracts more than 450 million television audience and a track attendance audience of around 1.5 million every year.

This year, the season started of in March in Australia and will go on to November in Abu Dhabi having at least one Grand Prix race each month in different countries/states.
