Police reveal details of terror attack plot in Nairobi

Three terror suspects who planned a scheme of bombing government office and judiciary building were tracked down by police in Isiolo.

According to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett, the suspected terrorists were part of a sect planning a major attack in Nairobi.

“These terrorists were targeting a government building and we suspect they planned to attack a judicial building probably to rescue people being prosecuted for terror offences,” stated Boinnet.

One Mbarak Abdi Huka was murdered as two others of his abettors were detained in Merti, Isiolo after a tough confrontation with the police.

“Were they to succeed it would have had an impact up to 200 metres. In our assessment, their objective was to create fear and panic, attract attention about their cause, shutter our social standing, discourage investment and hopefully influence government decisions on safeguarding the country,” added Boinnet.

The suspects had 1,000 bullets, 36 grenades, 18 IEDs, 5 AK-47 rifles plus a collection of other dangerous weapons were which were later recovered by the police.

The suspected criminals were seen by police officers who were on patrol in Merti town one of them alighted and fired gun shots towards the police before he was killed.
