2018 was a difficult year for the entertainment industry after the death of some industry heavyweights such as Joseph Kamaru and Mowzey Radio.

Today we take a look back at all the famous people who have died in 2018.

Joseph Kamaru

Veteran Kikuyu Musician Joseph Kamaru died in October 2018 at the age of 79 years while undergoing treatment at the MP Shah Hospital.

His son Stephen Maina said that he was diagnosed with Parkinson disease, a nerve disease which they believe was the main cause of his death.

The late Kamaru was buried at his home in Kigumo, Murang’a County in a ceremony that was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Agnes Masogange

Agnes passed on at the age of 28 at the Mama Ngoma Mwenge hospital in Dar es Salaam after suffering from Asthma and low blood count.

Her burial ceremony was held at Leaders Club in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam ahead of her burial at Utengule village in Mbalizi, Mbeya province.

Mowzey Radio

Mowzey Radio’s life was tragically cut short after a bar brawl at Freedom Beach in Entebbe.

The singer was pushed by a bouncer at a popular hangout spot in Entebbe town, south of the capital Kampala where he sustained serious injuries on the head.

The deceased was rushed to the Case Clinic Hospital in critical condition where he fell into a coma and later died.

Mzee Majuto

In August, The Tanzanian Film Industry lost one of their most celebrated actors Mzee Majuto who passed on while undergoing treatment at Muhimbili Hospital in Dar es Salaam.

Famed celebrities including Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli took to social media to mourn the late Mzee Majuto.

Shavey

Shavey of the Dancehall duo ‘Shavey and Slice’ famed for the song Gyal passed away in mid-march after being run over by a Matatu in Kayole

The news of his death was shared on social media by the GrandPa Records page who wrote “Rest in peace Shavey of the duo Shavey n Slice popularly known for the hit single ‘Gyal’ shine on your way bro,”

The dancehall superstar made waves in 2009 with the hit that topped charts across TV and Radio stations.

Pancho Latino

According to reports, Pancho also known as ‘Mafia’ died after a drowning accident on the island of Mbudya in Dar es Salaam.

Pancho worked with a number of artists including the Legendary Dully Sykes and former Tusker Project Fame judge Hermy B.

Hundreds of celebrities including Alikiba and Wema Sepetu flocked to social media to mourn him.

DJ Nakumatt

The funnyman who once appeared on NTV’s Churchill show for his extra-ordinary mouth mixing skills passed away in August, after a short illness.

Bilali Hassan Bizila aka Mashauzi

Popular Tanzanian Taarab artise Bilali passed on in May 2018.

Bilali was a Music Producer, a successful songwriter and performer who earned respect in the Taarab Industry.

Jamal Gadaffi

Actor Jamal Nassul Gadafi passed away in December 2018 after a love quarrel gone sour.

The former Vioja Mahakamani judge allegedly met his death in the hands of his lover Grace Kanamu Namulo.
