Kenyans can't afford me- Redsan

Kenyans are not willing to pay him the way they do International artists.

Kenyans can't afford me.

Swabri Mohamed aka Redsan has been in the music industry for the last fifteen years and while his fellow veterans have established their musical niche in Kenya, he has maintained a distant yet loyal relationship with his fans.

And he gave two reasons:

Redsan said that his contract with international record label Sony Global is the major reason for him missing in action in the Kenyan music scene. He stated that the amount of investment made by Sony to his music demands a higher pay and Kenyan event organizers are not ready to meet the price as they would with an International artist.

"You see, a lot of things have changed around me over the last few years. One is that I got signed by Sony Global, who are managing me right know. If you call me for a gig right now, the management bargaining terms are very high because they have heavily invested in me and that’s why most Kenyan promoters never meet these demands. Kenyan promoters would rather invest heavily in foreign artistes even when we home-grown entertainers offer the same quality music. It’s for this reason that I rarely perform here but get a lot of shows outside the country where the market meets the demand."

Family Guy

His second reason was his family. When it comes to his personal life, Redsan is known to be very private. No wonder he posted a picture of his son only to soon delete it after he noticed the traction it was gaining online.

Also, word is that the Shoulder Back singer married one lovely Viverz Mohammed in 2012.

He said, "Apart from music, there is family. I am a family guy. I have a young family. I spend most of the time outside the country (South Africa) and when I am here, love creating more time for my family, being around them. I don’t attend parties that am not invited to but all the same, I don’t like hanging out, I’m an indoor guy and very private.”

Well, Redsan is doing well with his back to back release of hit songs for the last two years. Just two hours ago, Dj Creme De La Creme released the official video to his song, Live it Up featuring Redsan and Victoria Kimani. Redsan is also set to collaborate with Burna Boy, Patoranking, AKA and Ghanian star Stonebwoy. All courtesy of Sony Global.
