Lupita Nyong'o lands star role in new movie days after premiering in Black Panther

'The Woman King'

The film Lupita will feature in is “The Woman King” which is a powerful story of a mother and daughter who had a unique relationship. It tells a story about how women rose to defend their people in a Kingdom somewhere West Africa.

Lupita will feature alongside Viola Davis and Davis will play Nanisca and Lupita will be Davis daughter; Nawi. The two will stand up against forces jeopardizing their way of life.

Tristar pictures,an American film studio that is a division of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, owned by the Sony subsidiary Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired worldwide rights to ‘The Woman film’ originally by Mario Bello.

The TriStar Pictures president Hannah Minghella stated “And there’s no-one more extraordinary than Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong’o to bring them to life.”

The studio on Thursday made it known that the Oscar winners have signed on to star as mother and daughter warriors in 19th century West Africa.

Lupita is currently at a crucial point in her career following her exemplary performance in Black Panther where she played a warrior and undercover agent.
