The online music service announced its nominees ahead of the ceremony slated for 18 February 2018 during the Ongea EastAfrica Summit happening at Sarit Centre,Westlands

The awards come on the heels of two million monthly users as at 2018 January.
Other artists nominated in this category are; Esir, Femi One, Frasha, Jua Kali, The Kansoul, Octopizzo, Kristoff and Naiboi.
Timmy T Dat won the most downloaded track in the hip hop category in the third edition of the Mdundo Music Awards. He was the only artist who was present to receive his award. He beat E Sir, Khaligraph, Octopizzo, Vicmass Luodollar, The Kansoul and Frasha.
Mdundo is an online music distributor which awards the most downloaded Kenyan music in different categories.
