Kenya beats Congo for the world’s longest song

Congolese music is famed for its length with a whole song going on and on for what feels like an hour. But Kenyans have decided to break Congo’s winning streak with the longest song of their own.

Mdundo decided to involve upcoming artists in this recording and communication was mainly done through newsletters. At the recording each artist was given a minute in the booth. Responses were great with more than 150 artists taking part in the final recording.

Some of the artists in the song include; Tim Master, Linda Nyakundi, Buny Bee, Lord Albert, Patman, Joe A, Authentic BMX, Godfrey Ngari, Jomonitcs, Chey, Wabbie, Joseph Odinga, Kelvin Amiani, Lil Felly, Carson Frenzy and Kelvin Kimani (Elvinas).

At the end of it all, after long hours spent in post-production, the song is finally done. It's just over four hours. This would have been a new Guinness world record however in order to go into the record books; there have to be officials from the Guinness world records present to oversee the entire process.

Unfortunately, due to logistics could not be dealt with at that point in time, this was not possible but Mdundo hopes that the song will be a consideration for any future attempts at the record.
