Mercy Mokeira and her Siaya counterpart were cruelly labeled ‘unattractive’ by the notorious Kenyans on Twitter in comparison to the inmates.
Despite the vitriol being pitched her way, but she proved that not even a battalion of haters could weigh her spirit or confidence down.
Over the weekend we learnt that Mercy has passed away due to some illness that she contracted after a visit to Tanzania last year. The doctors couldn’t establish what was ailing her despite excessive weight loss and feeling weak all the time.

The beauty queen passed away after suffering from excessive body heat due to her mysterious illness on Saturday, January 28th at North Kinangop Hospital.
Before her sudden demise Miss Mokeira was to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Kenyatta University in June this year.
Following her unforeseen death people have taken to social media and even mainstream media to mourn the beauty queen.
Ashley Kenya’s CEO Terry Mungai whose company is the franchise holder of the Miss World Kenya organization described the lady as cheerful and hardworking.
"I am saddened by the death of Mercy Mokeira. I pass my condolences to her family and the entire Nyamira County. Mokeira was a very cheerful lady, and she did a good job in the fight against jigger infestation in different parts of the country."
