The Director of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) Vincent Mwasia Mutua aka Chipukeezy has promised to help a young high school student (girl) whose video went viral on social media while under the influence of Alcohol.

On Thursday, a video showing a drunk high school student in uniform was shared widely by online users prompting the NACADA director to intervene.

In the video, the school girl reveals that her drinking habit is borrowed from her mother who is also a drunkard back at home.

“Mimi niko tei juu mama yangu pia anatei, so mimi nafanya kama mum, yeye hukuja kama ametei sasa mimi pia nafanya kama yeye. Nimepewa tei na beshte yangu,” says the school girl.

Chipukeezy issued a statement stating that the process of getting in touch with the family of the affected student had began.

“I have seen a certain video of a young high school girl who was recorded drunk. As Nacada Director I will offer mentorship for this girl. Process to get in touch with family and school has begun. The girl deserves mentorship and inspiration not condemnation. That is why I hold office. Some things are about humanity not money” reads a statement for Chipukeezy.

Good Move

Chipukeezy’s promise to held the affected girl was hailed by a number of celebrities among them Dennis Itumbi who said “ Good move Director. Mentor her and through her many schools. Mentorship is more comprehensive than counselling. Yes get her counselled but beyond the tall , walk her journey. Talk to her parent’s teachers and for her open the world of opportunities. Expose her to the world. Impressed. Benjamin Franklin once said “Tell me and I forget, teach me and may remember but involve me and I will learn”.
