Nonini quits from powerful government position

Nonini was appointed into the position in April

On Thursday, the self-proclaimed "Godfather of Genge" handed in his resignation as the Chairman of Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK).

Nonini took to his social media pages to shares the news of his resignation stating he had decided to part ways with PRISK on what he termed as the board going against the conditions set by its regulator the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO).

“Today I have officially resigned as Chairman of  and above is my resignation letter. We have a regulator  who issues our licenses to collect and has set out clear conditions we collect jointly with  & When a board I chair goes against the conditions set by our regulator that means they are going against the government and I will not be party to such.” Wrote Mr Nakitare

Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) is a collective management organization licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board to represent performers in musical and dramatic works.

PRISK is hence a performer works licensing company appointed as a collecting society under Gazette Notice No. 12322.

“Really humbled being appointed Chairman for Performers Rights Society of Kenya and ready to serve for music industry to take us to greater heights but most of all thanks to my board  for believing in me.” Said Nonini after the appointment.

At the PRISK Board the Kenyan hip hop recording artist, entertainer and radio presenter, was working with other notable celebrities  like Iddi (Beatrice Achieng), Nameless (David Mathenge), Irene Kariuki, Daddy Owen (Owen Mwatia), Ian Mbugua and SK Blue (Samuel Kuria) who are all directors.
