The cancellation of Pambazuka National Lottery which aired on TV, K24 and Njata TV has seen the loss of multiple jobs. According to Business Today, Protel studio which produced Pambazuka National Lottery and The Real Househelps of Kawangware among other successful productions has laid off 20 employees. It’s estimated that 60 people who worked on the set of Pambazuka National Lottery lost their jobs.
This job loss is part of a new wave that has hit the media industry that will be seeing Nation Media also cutting down on its workforce following a major restructuring that is taking place at the firm.
In a statement seen by Pulselive.co.ke Nation will be laying off people as they seek to ‘transform the Group into a modern 21st-century digital content company.’
“Over the recent past, we embarked on a strategic journey of transforming the Group into a modern 21st-century digital content company. In this regard, the implementation of the strategy will continue to involve the reorganization of our operations across the group. Regrettably, this will result in a reduction of our workforce.” The statement read in part.
