The term Gentleman is always measured and viewed differently by different people and therefore Sonko’s act has received different definitions.

There are those who felt like Sonko should have allowed Shebesh’s husband to carry the handbag. While other stated that, the act could lead him into problems back at his home.

“Our Women rep Hon. Rachel Shebesh has been discharged from hospital. We did our first strategy meeting as Team TRIPPLE 'S' today. I wish her a quick recovery.” Posted Mike Sonko

One Arapp Chege  had this to say “Sonko is such a gentleman this days kwanza vile amesaidia Shebesh kubeba kibeti. SONKO TIBIM.”

Another Nairobian by the name Sam Mwaura demanded to know where Mr. Shebesh was “ Kwani mzee shebesh mwenyewe ako wapi? Sasa mmeanza mambo ya 2013? Sasa hata handbag unambeba? Tazama k24 stori ya ukishikwa shikamana.”

Mary Jacque M, seemed to disagree with all Nairobians who were complaining about Sonko carying and opening the car door for Shebesh. “Just following the comments from Kenyan brothers... It's shocking!! the lady is using the walking sticks on both hands... What's the problem with Sonko Mr carrying her bag? Worst enough... How dare they complain of Him opening the car door for a lady?? that's a gentleman's duty towards each and every single female... Young or old. Come on dear brothers!!”
