Top Kenyan Dancehall artist is dead

So sad

The news of his death was shared on social media by Grand Pa records who wrote’ “Rest in peace Shavey of the duo shavey n slice popularly known for the hit single'gyal' shine on your way bro,”

Details of his passing are still scanty. The dancehall superstar made waves in 2009 with the hit that  top charts across TV and Radio stations.

Ran over

Unconfirmed reports indicate the artist passed away after being ran over by a matatu in Kayole.

“Shavey famed for Gyal has passed away after he was run over by a matatu in Kayole. 1960 will miss you.” Shared the Kapuka Facts official Twitter handle.

Although Gyal arguably still remains the best dancehall song in Kenya, his fortunes dwindled and his fame hit rocks, after he opted to be a Matutu Conductor on the Kayole route to make ends meet.

In September 2013, he was arrested by the Kayole area chief after he was nabbed breaking into a butchery to steal meat. His partner Slice faded off from the limelight altogether.

Rest in Peace Shaevy
