When the Presenter decides to run away from his own show

Ashwin Willemse, a former South African rugby player who works with SuperSport as a presenter, stormed out of the show he was presenting following a disagreement with his colleagues.

“I’ve worked hard to earn my own respect in this thing, so I’m not gonna be patronized by two individuals who played in an apartheid-segregated era… I can’t work with people who undermine other people… you can sit and laugh about it but its fine… I don’t mind being ridiculous… I’m glad it happened on air so that people can see,” said Willemse before walking way.

It’s reported that the relationship between former Springboks Ashwin Willemse and his fellow presenter Nick Mallett has been strained for some time and his walk away from the Live studio session was prompted by Mallet's remarks and another former Springbok, Naas Botha.

However, SuperSport CEO Gideon Khobane has refuted claims that the presenter was racially abused.

"We are positive that this was not a racially motivated issue because all parties were very courteous during our discussions that started this morning. We still have time to investigate deeper on what actually happened because nobody just leaves a live production,” said SuperSport CEO Gideon Khobane.
