Catherine Kamau and Phil Karanja met on the set of Mother-in-law in 2012 where Kate was an actress and Phil a director.

They started out as friends but it wasn’t until 2013 when Phil approached her to declare his intentions to her. And lucky for him, Catherine was in the same boat as she was also attracted to him. “He was my director pale Mother-in-law and when I was leaving, he helped me package myself into a brand, it (relationship) wasn’t serious at that time,” she disclosed on Radio Jambo.

She also revealed the qualities that Phil possesses that made her fall for him.

“That man is a man, organization, goals yaani kila kitu...leadership and then he is not kiherehere yaani he is just laid back and that’s my type. A laidback man, you never know what to expect. I think I’m too hyper so he lets me be me…I feel safe and I trusted him with my dreams and I still trust him with my dreams, “ Kate said during an interview with Radio Jambo’s Massawe Jappani.

Lavish wedding

Celina and Phil wed at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in 2017 in a ceremony attended by close family and friends.

The news of their wedding was shared on social media by their close friend Celestine Ndinda (wife to Comedian Njugush). “Introducing Mr and Mrs Karanja,” shared Ndinda with a photo of the new celebrity couple in town.
