According to Standard, the Tuk Tuk driver said one of the officers smashed his side mirror and windscreen and beating them was in self-defense.
The father of one, who spoke on condition of anonymity narrated that he was stopped by the police officers and while he was stopping, one of the officers smashed his side mirror and windscreen but when he asked why, the officers started beating him.
Police officers attacked me
“I asked for the second time why the officer smashed my side mirror but the officer could not explain. I got annoyed and demanded to be given answers, as they tried to intimidate me, saying there was nothing I could do to them," he told the local daily.
The man, who is still in hiding, said he lost his cool and fought the officers after they started pulling his Tuk Tuk as they called a towing truck.
"I decided enough was enough and had to fight what I believed to be unjust and unfair cops who were intimidating me because they were in Government uniform. We exchanged blows and after I overpowered them, they picked stones and hurled at me," he said.
He added that he was the sole bread winner for his family and he could not bear the pain of losing his only source of income.
According to the man, he was on his way to Nakuru town when the incident occurred.
Viral video
In the viral video, the angry driver was seen engaging in a scuffle with two uniformed police officers and he overpowered them before he jumped into his Tuk Tuk.
He then made a U-turn and drove the opposite direction before he made another U-turn and he stopped again.
He then got out picked stones and started throwing them at the police officers who were running towards different directions.
