Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua has responded after Kenyans reached out to him regarding ‘Pigwa Shoka” song that has caused uproar among Netizens.

The song and video glorifies violence against women.
Mutua confirmed that he had received complaints from Kenyans and asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to find and arrest the culprits behind the said song.
A section of Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) united to call for stern action against artistes behind the “Pigwa Shoka” that glorifies femicide and incitement of violence against women.
“We are following up to ensure that there is heightened surveillance on this kind of content. We have also alerted DCI to find the creators and producers of such content and ensure that they face the law,” reads a tweet from Mutua
He also mentioned that they had reached out to Google so that the song can be pulled down on Youtube.
“We alerted , which owns who committed to take action through their "Trusted Flaggers" office in Kenya. We are saddened by the delay, global platforms take long on such decisions as the global community policy standards differ from one jurisdiction to another" reads a tweet from Mutua.
Ruthless on producers
The KFCB boss added that, going forward the board will be more ruthless on producers who are capitalizing on controversy to make money, as artistes in such songs seek cheap publicity.
“In most cases, it's unscrupulous producers who are capitalizing on such controversy to make money. The young fellows doing this kind of content are seeking cheap publicity. Going forward, we will be ruthless on the producers of such content and DJs who give traction to such unacceptable content. We urge the and to crack down on these hoodlums and urgently bring them to book,” said Mutua.
The song in Question caused uproar due to its content and video that shows youth in “blood-stained” clothes carrying “bloody” axes.
A number of celebs had commented on the song;
“Dear there's a music video doing rounds called 'pigwa shoka' that's enacting Ivy's killing and basically asking young men to kill slay queens. It's horrific to say the least. I hope you can act on it with speed. Urging whoever has seen it not to share”
“So, there's a song by a bunch of idiotic kids called "Pigwa shoka" which actually talks about killing girls..the song has a video with girls dancing in it..I am out of adjectives to describe this but I guess this is where you come in?..”
“There are some young, admittedly talented people who have released a song called Pigwa Shoka. In the video they are wearing “blood” stained clothes and carrying “bloody” axes. I have felt such disappointment”
