Wema Sepetu was crowned Miss Tanzania in 2006 when she was about 18 years old and she got to represent the country at the Miss World  beauty pageant in Warsaw, Poland that was won by Taťána Kuchařová.

Aside from being an actress, Wema has in the past expressed her interest in politics and even campaigned passionately for President Magufuli under his Chama Cha Mapinuzi (CCM- Party of the Revolution)in 2015.

Her interest in politics could be alluded to the fact that her dad the Late Abraham Isaac Sepetu was a respected politician, diplomat and minister.

From 1990 to 2000, Mr Sepetu served as the Tanzanian Minister of State for Planning, he was also the president’s advisor at some point was a member of the National executive Committee at CCM.

Last year, Wema expressed her love for CCM during the campaigns and was quoted on occasions saying that if you cut her and she bled, it would be green the colour of the party she loves.

"Kada wa Chama cha Mapinduzi. Ukinikata damu yangu ni Kijani Kibichi. Ama nene?Chukua hIyo.Pigia Mstari, underline, bila kusahau kuacapitalize...Kidumu chama tawala CCM. Kutoka madarakani ni kama nyoka kuota miguu…(I’m a devoted member of CCM. When you cut me, I will bleed green. Take that, underline it and don’t forget to capitalise it. May CCM rule for long. CCM losing the leadership is like a snake growing legs…) she once wrote on her Instagram page to express her devotion to the ruling party.

But maybe she has had a change of heart after the havoc Magufuli’s government caused in her life with the drug issue as she was spotted in the company of a Freeman Aikaeli Mbowe and a few members of the opposition party, Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA – Party for Democracy and Development).

This was when she went back to court to answer to charges of drug use after she was named among the list of drug users in Dar es Salaam by Paul Makonda.

The case was however postponed as the investigations are still underway and Wema is expected to be back in court on 15 March 2017.

But is seems there was more to the CHADEMA members accompanying Wema to court as a spokesman of the party revealed that they intend on making Wema a member of their party and we should look forward to it.
